Description
I've been feeling pretty prolific for the past few days, so here's yet another collection of conceptual doodles for my personal project. These all take place around the beginning, so here you get to meet a few more characters.
Explanations from left to right, top to bottom:
1.) Perdita is getting ready to try on a new dress for a party, but not before putting on her undergarments. Someone is tying her stay a little too tightly.
2.) Three minor characters--Alice (left), Sybil (middle), and Nellie (right)--gossiping about Perdita at a party. They don't like her, and she doesn't like them.
3.) Sybil is arguing with Perdita after the latter makes a passive-aggressive remark about Sybil's "marvelous" hair.
4.) Harris Abernathy is also at the party, which is mainly about him. He was Perdita's father's right-hand man, and has since taken his position as chief constable in their hometown. The party is a celebration of the fourth anniversary of him becoming the chief (so he has a bit of an ego). Perdita looks up to him, and the two get along well. Here, they are discussing her father's killers, who are still at large.
5.) Because Perdita is not allowed to enroll in nursing school, she sometimes sneaks out to go to the town hospital to study under the guidance of a sympathetic character, Mrs. Florence. Here, they're having the "talk." The girl looks disturbed because of two reasons: first of all, remember that Victorian society was very repressed and uptight, so people were not often keen on talking about sex, even to their kids. Secondly, Perdita's mother, Madeline, is quite frail and mollycoddles her daughter, so...
Constructive criticism is welcome. Let me know if you want to see more!
